This way is somewhat easier to complete. We can go from figure 11 shown again below.

Take the top right (purple) piece, and turning once, tuck it under the (yellow) fold to it's immediate left.
The end of the strip will come out of yellow point. Pull gently and press on crease to flatten.

Once again, flip your star over and repeat step 11b on this side.
With this variation, you can lay your work on a table or hold it in your hand while doing the center, whichever you prefer. Since there are no points to crush it is also easier to store or stack this variation of star.
